32 Team Bracket

A 32 team single-elimination bracket has 5 rounds: the Round of 32, Round of 16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and the Final. Each round cuts the field in half until one champion remains.

31 matches total. Every single-elimination bracket needs one fewer match than the number of teams, since each match eliminates exactly one team and 31 teams have to be eliminated to crown a champion.

With one court or field, 31 matches typically spans a full weekend or several evenings. Running 4 matches at once (a common setup) can compress the whole bracket into a single day — the Round of 32 alone is 16 simultaneous matches if you have the space.

No — 32 is already a power of 2, so every team plays in the Round of 32 with no byes required. Byes only come into play if your actual roster is smaller, like 17 to 31 teams, where the extra open slots go to the top seeds.

Standard seeding pairs the strongest and weakest teams first — 1 vs 32, 2 vs 31, and so on — so top seeds are mathematically kept apart until the later rounds. A number 1 and number 2 seed can't meet until the Final unless one is upset earlier.

You'd give byes to your top 8 seeds, letting them skip straight to the Round of 16 while the remaining teams play it out in the Round of 32. That keeps the bracket structure intact even when the field isn't a perfect power of 2.
