Each pairing appears once. Home/away labels alternate; in neutral-court sports they simply identify the two sides.

The total is 8 × 7 ÷ 2 = 28 matches. With four courts, all four matches in a round can start together. With two courts, each round needs two playing waves.

Seven rounds does not always mean seven time slots.

Keep rounds in sequence and add time for rest, check-in, and overruns. If 28 matches do not fit, two pools of four followed by a four-team playoff need 12 pool matches plus 3 playoff matches. An eight-team knockout needs seven matches but guarantees only one game per team.

Use the format and court-time calculator to compare your event’s assumptions. For fixed doubles, eight teams means sixteen players.

Questions before you start?

How many games are in an 8-team round robin?

A single round robin has 28 matches. Each of the eight teams plays seven opponents once. The formula is 8 × 7 ÷ 2; dividing by two avoids counting each match twice.

How many rounds does an 8-team round robin need?

Seven rounds, with four matches per round. On fewer than four courts, split each round into multiple playing waves. Round count and time-slot count are different.

Does an 8-team round robin have byes?

No. An even field allows every team to play once in each round. If a team withdraws and you change the count to seven, each round has one bye and every team sits out once.

How does an 8-team double round robin differ?

Each pairing happens twice, with home and away reversed on the second pass. That gives 56 matches, 14 rounds, and 14 games per team.

Can I print or download the schedule?

Yes. Edit the names and court count, then print, copy, or download CSV without an account. The export is a snapshot; create a live round robin separately for score tracking and a public tournament hub.
