Write team names on the lines. Seed 1 plays seed 8/16, seed 2 plays seed 7/15, etc. This ensures top seeds don't meet until later rounds.
Write the final score next to each team. Advance the winner to the next round by writing their name on the corresponding line.
Give top seeds a "bye" (automatic advance to round 2). For 6 teams, seeds 1-2 get byes. For 12 teams, seeds 1-4 get byes.
